Journey to Charlotte

We took a road trip to Charlotte, NC to see the Packers take on the Panthers and on the way stopped in Kentucky and Tennessee. Here are the adventures we found ourselves on the way to Charlotte.

First stop was in Frankfort, KY. I would first like to say that I would love to take a trip to Lousiville sometime in my life. I have driven through it multiple times and would love to stop for a visit some day. During our stop in Frankfort, we found our way into the capitol building. Then the bourbon lover we were traveling with, took us to Buffalo Trace Distillery. Buffalo Trace is an amazing place and I could of spent hours there taking pictures, Its to bad I am not a bourbon fan.

Our next stop was in Knoxville, TN. We didn't stay long, however had some delicious bbq at Sweet P's and then quickly shuffled down to the Tennessee Theatre for a quick photo.

Our next stop was in Gatlinburg, TN. I am not sure what to say about Gatlinburg. It is a very touristy place on the foothills of the Smoky Mountain National Park. We stayed outside of the city which was nice. Gatlinburg would be a great place for a family vacation and any pancake lovers would love it, as Gatlinburg is the pancake capitol of the US. However it is not a city for me. Most of our time was spent in the Smokies. Although the day touring was pretty overcast and rainy, it managed to be a great day and we saw the mountains smoking.

After our stay in the Smokies, we head off to Asheville, NC. I did not take any pictures in Asheville as our purpose here was to explore the many breweries in the city. We stopped at Wicked Weed, Twin Leaf and Green Man, which are amazing breweries. We then took off and went to Charlotte.

The last stop was Charlotte. Our sole purpose of this trip was to see the Packers battle the Panthers. Unfortunately we did not make it into the game as I could not bring myself to drop $250+ on a ticket to the game. Instead we befriend some local Charlotte peeps and tailgated, bar hopped , brewery hopped and enjoyed some late night drunken pizza. It turned out to be an amazing day. After the game I attempted to get out and shoot. Most of the spots I planned to shoot at were parking structures. The first one I made it on, I was immediately surrounded by security and asked to leave as they do not allow photographers on parking structures in Charlotte (according to the security guard). By that time I was exhausted and slightly hungover and failed to use my shutter and capture a single image in Charlotte. I was not to disappointed as I enjoyed my trip greatly.
