2016 Best Nine

Well another year is over, another year of photos have been shared. I was lucky enough to travel this year both nationally and internationally. Places such as, Dallas, Iceland, Amsterdam, Germany, Denmark, Denver, Nashville, and Chicago. I also was able to stay in my home state of Wisconsin and continue to explore this beautiful state. I was able to capture one of the most epic sunsets I have ever seen on Lake Michigan.

Over the years my love photography has grown and grown. I have met amazing and talented people all over and enjoyed the short and lengthy conversations with each one. I literally have become obsessed with photography. If I am not out with friends, or spending time with my wonderful girl (who puts up with my photography madness, which I am very thankful for), my mind is always focused on something photography. At work, I will play podcasts, such as improve photography or photo bomb. While I am relaxing on the couch, I will watch YouTube videos and vlogs, and read multiple articles about new techniques that will help me improve my skills. I have fully engulfed my life into this art of photography.

I think the greatest thing I have taken away from this year is that; I really learned to shoot for myself. I try to keep a style that appeals to me, and take pictures of subjects that I love. I often get questions about why I always am out on Lake Michigan at the ass crack of dawn, shooting the same thing almost every weekend. I will tell you why, because I want to. The sunrise amazes me, there is something about a sunrise, that differs from a sunset aside from the obvious. I am not entirely sure what but it is something that never gets old to me. I have been fortunate to shoot some amazing sunrises.

So for 2017, I don’t have many photography goals, except maybe to make a little money for my work, and hopefully I will get a chance to shoot with two of the most influential photographers out in So Cal this coming spring. If neither of those happen, it isn’t a big deal, but I would be very grateful.

One other thing I truly enjoy is viewing other photographers work, so I wanted to share my top 5 favorite photographers of 2016. Some of these people I have met and some I just enjoy following on Instagram:

Joshua Eral: Joshuaeral

Yvdhy Blacktoner: blacktoner_5150

Travis Burke: travisburkephotography

Iurie Belegurschi: Iuriebelegurschi

Majeed Badizadegan: majeedbadizadegan

Bonus: BeMovedandMove; This instagram account is new, and run by a good friend of mine, and one of my favorite musicians, James Tutson. He really is something else and it amazes me. Not only is he an incredible musician, but also is someone that always wants to do more for this world, and that is where “Be Moved and Move” comes into play. I can always back something like that, and I encourage you to learn more about the movement and visit his page.

For those of you non-instagrammers, There is an end of the year, Best 9 tool that you can share, that shows what your most liked photos were the year of 2016. I am very thankful for all the likes and follows over the past year. It shows that some people actually invest an interest in my work, and that truly means the world to me. This is my Best 9 of 2016 according to Instagram likes:

Now I really do enjoy all those photos, but I wanted to share with you with my official top 9 photos of 2016. Here is to a great 2017!

It was hard to pick, but I hope you enjoyed the 9 as much as I did.
